Up one level-
L1
- The street scene from Michael Jackson's 'Billy Jean' video. Here a glass shot is used to top up the set.
-
L2
- Kate Bush's 'Cloudbuster' on top of the hill in the west country. These shots were taken from the video.
-
M1
- The wrapped 'Cloud buster' being pushed up the hill. My father Ken originally made this, whilst I was building the laboratory scene. It was last seen being delivered to Kate's garden. I believe Donald Sutherland originally gave his services for free.
-
R1
- Boy George and Culture club. On 'It's a Miracle' I had to design a huge board game for the band to dance around. It was themed on all of their past successes and about sixty feet diameter. It was directed by Zelda Baron (Steve's Mum).
-
R2
- Stevie Nicks. We built the set, took it down on the prelight and rebuilt it a month later when she was ready to film. It was unfortunately too large to store so it all ended up rather expensive for the record company.
-
R3
- Peter Gabriel seen here on 'I don't remember'. This was shot in a warehouse in Wapping, London. Peter was always extremely involved in every aspect of his videos.
-
R4
- Peter Gabriel. I had to get special tables and chairs built for the location as well as designing all the studio scenery and special effects. A special dance troupe was commissioned for the 'zombie' figures.
-
R5
- Peter Gabriel. A zombie with an elastic hand together with a specially built 'eating sofa' were just a few of the many things requested. On the first attempt at pulling Peter through the sofa we unfortunately broke his belt.
-
R6
- Tina Turner seen here on the song 'Help'. This was filmed at our family studios (Westbridge) together with numerous other promos.
-
R7
- One of Kagagoogoo's videos. This was built and shot at Shepperton in my early video days. I designed it with very large canvas built 'windbags' to keep the weight down. This enabled them to be moved easily to create other sets with the same pieces.
-
R8
- John Wayne is a big Leggy. We were asked to have this set rebuilt for Top of the Pops but as it was not built "the then BBC way" it never got beyond the ring road into their studio.
