Up one level-
L1
- A large perspective street created for this bank commercial. All the light rigging has to be constructed on the floor prior to hanging so make sure there is space.
-
L2
- When building, the floor space can get extremely congested, these structures are awaiting painting prior to being hung.

- Here a cornfield is being prepared for a Citroen still. The loose corn was sandwiched between plywood strips prior to being positioned. It meant that it stood up in a regimented fashion and gave it strength. The method for doing this is always thought out before we start in the stage to save time and money.

R1
- Another shot showing the construction of the corn strips with the scenic clouds being painted in the background by Andrew Garnet Lawson.

R2
- Always get stage plans prior to your build. The will show doors, access and heights. I tend to redraw these showing the proposed set position on stage and send it to the cameraman and clients. If the set then needs to be moved, at least it wasn't your fault. I always find that no matter how big the stage is, there is never enough room.

- An overhead view is always useful for meetings. This one shows alternative backgrounds for filming different sofas by looking in different directions. Shame to say but it's for DFS.

R4
- These are the set walls being prepared for the above DFS commercial. We stretch large rolls of scenic canvas over the wooden framework to achieve the perfect surface. This is then painted, as the paint dries, it pulls out all the wrinkles and still remains light enough to move easily, the perfect wall.

R5
- Another wall ready for painting. The floors are usually laid last to keep them in good condition.
